Fort Collins Utilities
Project Period: November, 2010 to Present

Symbiotic Engineering is providing Fort Collins Utilities (FCU) a fully functioning Sustainability Information Management Information System (SIMS) that imports monthly consumption data from all meters, electric and water, to assist with numerous resource conservation activities. Some highlights include:

  • Helping Fort Collins improve customer service to businesses participating in their nationally recognized sustainable business program, Climate Wise, by emailing our customizable Resource Utilization reports that summarize the business’ energy, water and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) changes over time. Updates are sent via quarterly progress reports to increase customer engagement with the program and their GHG emissions reductions goals.

  • Quantifying the actual energy, water and GHG emissions impacts of over a handful of energy and water efficiency programs, covering both residential and commercial customers.

  • To extend FCU’s programs marketing budgets, the SIMS’ robust analytical engine has been used to identify key commercial and residential customers for specific efficiency program outreach through inverse modeling and benchmarking of the energy performance of each FCU customer.
